Review: Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell.

This book is #11 on my Book Riot Read Harder Challenge list – read a book under 100 pages.

I love Rainbow Rowell books. She has a way of taking cultural references and weaving them into her storylines with just enough nostalgia to make you really empathise with the characters. Kindred Spirits is about 3 Star Wars fans queuing up for Episode 7 days before the film is released. Despite making me feel old (the prequels came out when the characters were little kids) I enjoyed the storyline but hoped for a little more action to take place. As a short novella for World Book Day it ticks all the YA fiction boxes but I would have liked a little more plot development.

Score: 7/10.
