I have an Amazon voucher – book recs please!

Hello Bookworms!

Just a quick request – I signed to some online pension management thing (my life is trés exciting) and I’ve apparently qualified for a £10 Amazon voucher! Yay!

This voucher is yet to materialise in my inbox but when if it does I’ll need something to spend it on…hmmm…

That’s where you lovely lot come in. Obviously I’ll be buying books with it…but which ones? There’s too many to choose from!!!

So, if you’ve read anything amazing recently that you really recommend, could you let me know in the comments? I don’t care what genre it is, if you think it’s good, let me know!

Thank you lovelies!

      1. Anything by VE Schwab and Neil Gaiman. Shades of Magic is incredible, as is Vicious, both are just brilliant by V.
I love Good Omens and Stardust by Neil Gaiman too, Coraline and The Graveyard boom close behind.
If you’ve never read them – Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo is one of the best things I’ve read in the last few years!!
COMPLETELY different vibe, but still fantasy – if you like thrillers/detectives then Ben Aaronovitch’s Rivers of London kinda mixes police and London and detectives with fantasy.
Natasha Pulley’ s The Watchmaker of Filigree Street is pretty awesome too- and that’s from someone who usually doesn’t like historical fiction
        I’m gonna stop now haha…

      2. Oooh, thank you! I keep hearing good things about all of those books – I’ve read all of the Neil Gaiman but haven’t read the rest. I think I might be able to get some of those from the library too, which is a bonus! 😊

      3. I know right! And just such an amazing person too. Neverwhere is one of my favourite books ever. Ok great I’ve put little stars next to those books on my list so they’re top priority! Thanks lovely! 😊

      4. Oh I love love love it! Yeah his audiobook narration is really good 😊 You know when his kids were little and he was working away he would phone them every night to read them a bedtime story? So he’s had plenty of practice 😊

      5. Oh my gosh that is just too adorable. I did not need more excuses to love him haha! He just enunciates and emphasizes in such a unique way, that only he can ever perfect for his stories.

      6. Ahaha I know! I was telling my friend about how brilliant his audiobooks are (I was obviously banging on a bit) and she was like “you know normal people just watch porn” lol!

  1. If you like Grimdark fantasy – try Bkackwing by Ed McDonald. If you’re a science fiction fan, I’d recommend either Ninefox Gambit by Yoon Ha Lee or Ancillary Justice by Ann Leslie – all 3 some of the best I’ve read recently. Cheers, Brian

  2. My favorite books I read this year are “The Woman Who Walked Into Doors” by Roddy Doyle, “Beside the Sea” by Veronique Olmi, and “The Box Children” by Sharon Wyse. Mind you, all three of them are pretty dark, so you might have to be in the right mood for them. 🙂
